On 26 December 2018, the construction of Shantou-Shanwei rail line has started in Guangdong province of China. The 163km line will be constructed in four years, requiring a total investment of CNY 29bn (EUR 3.66bn USD 4.22bn). The initial construction will involve three tunnels and four bridges, covering the length of 15.87km.
